Update: The water spigot, which is the water source for Pochuck Mountain Shelter, remains off due to a leak and likely will not be fixed this year. leak. The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) in this section is in a populated area without good natural water sources. Hikers are encouraged to continue carrying extra water when hiking between High Point State Park and the north side of Pochuck Mountain (NOBO miles 1,340.3 to approx. 1,356.6).

The water source for the Pochuck Mountain Shelter (NOBO mile 1,353.9) is a water spigot on the back of a vacant house just Trail north of the Lake Wallkill Road/Liberty Corners Road crossing (NOBO mile 1,353.5). The water spigot has been temporarily shut down due to a leak. The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) in this section is in a populated area without good natural water sources.  Hikers are encouraged to carry extra water when hiking between High Point State Park and Pochuck Mountain (NOBO miles 1,339.8 to 1,355.4).
