Stone Busters and Hammers: Safety Tips with the Jolly Rovers

The Jolly Rovers deliver trainings in the craft of stonework to help trail builders improve recreational access to public parks and forests. This is the second post in our Jolly Rovers series, the first covered a few basics of the pick mattock. This training was delivered during Wilderness Skills Institute (WSI) 2015. In these two videos the Rovers demonstrate the proper technique for using stone busters as well as highlighting safety when using them. Whether you call it “circle of death” or a “blood bubble” you’ll learn how and where it applies for these tools and why single-person operation is the safest approach.
