Sophie Mangassarian
Next Generation Advisory Council Member

Sophie Mangassarian is the Senior Specialist of Grassroots Engagement at the American Geophysical Union, an international, nonprofit scientific association whose mission is to promote discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity. She works closely with dedicated grassroots and grasstops members to communicate how science improves the well-being of our committees and the health of our planet.
In her previous roles, she has served as the Advocacy Coordinator at Rails-to-Trails Conservancy connecting climate to active transportation policies, and the Activation and Recruitment Director for the Colorado Local Science Engagement Network.
She is passionate about connecting people to the resources they need to impact lasting, positive change through scientific, environmental, and conservation policy. Sophie has an undergraduate degree in Biology from Virginia Tech, where she first stepped foot on the A.T., and a masters in environmental policy from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
