2014 Volunteer of the Year SORO

Peter Berntsen was recognized by his peers in the southern region (SORO) of the A.T. in 2014 as their Volunteer of the Year. Pete managed the volunteer recruitment, assignments and the volunteer reception at ATC’s 2013 Cullowhee Biennial Meeting. As a Section Leader for two A.T. sections, Pete completely rehabilitated the worn out, heavily used A.T. section between Icewater Springs and Masa Knob then began extensive Dry Sluice to False Gap rehabilitation projects.   Pete sets a standard of dedication and hard work that few can emulate.
