Ilana Copel

Program Support Manager

Ilana (she/her) is the Program Support Manager for the New England region. Based in central Vermont, she works across multiple program areas to support ATC staff and regional trail clubs from Maine to Connecticut.

Ilana earned her B.S. in Natural Resources from the University of Vermont, during which she also spent a semester studying public land management and ecology in Australia. Her work experience includes supervising seasonal staff for the Green Mountain Club, maintaining campsites and alpine areas as a backcountry caretaker, repairing trails as a Vermont Youth Conservation Corps crew member, and teaching visitors about ecology in Canyonlands National Park.

In addition to thru-hiking the Long Trail in 2011 and section-hiking the Southern New England AT in 2013, Ilana has hiked around the world from the peaks of Northern Washington to the deserts of Israel and the volcanos of New Zealand. She is excited to work for an organization dedicated to hiking trails, the lands they pass through, and the people they impact.
