Dakota Jackson

Director of Visitor Experience

Dakota Jackson’s work focuses on creating empowering, educational, and inspiring experiences for all visitors to the Appalachian Trail. Dakota’s previous roles involved helping with interpretation, research, and collections management at historic sites and museums like the Longfellow House – Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Harvard Peabody Museum. In 2015, she thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and met her now husband on the top of Max Patch in North Carolina. After completing the Trail, Dakota became involved in the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s Next Generation Advisory Council in 2017, helping to bring young and diverse voices to the A.T. ecosystem. Dakota has a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s degree from University College London, both in Mediterranean Archaeology. Dakota currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts, frequenting the White and Green Mountains whenever possible.
