Lauren Wiggins
Next Generation Advisory Council Member
Lauren is a native of Stone Mountain, GA, graduate of a Historically Black University (HBCU) and seasoned digital campaigner and outdoor educator.
In the summer of 2016, she ran a canvassing office for voter registration in Atlanta, and then co-led a Get Out the Vote campaign for the 2016 election in Denver, CO. Shortly after, Lauren worked at the GA Dept of Natural Resources in the Watershed Branch where she help certify students and teachers in watershed education, water quality testing and macro invertebrate identification. She then switched to a position in digital campaign strategy with the American Civil Liberties Union, as well as a consulting in digital strategy for District Attorney candidates. All the while, she served as an outdoor educator and program coordinator with the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance –– the City of Atlanta’s only urban nature center that stewards over 400 acres of beautiful green space –– a position she deems to be one of the most fulfilling.
Recently, Lauren moved to Oakland, CA to take a position as an Online Content Specialist at Greenpeace USA. Nature, science, and writing has always been a love for Lauren, one that she is grateful to include in her current work composing content for Greenpeace’s campaigns on oceans, forest and climate.
Additionally, Lauren has a deep passion for music — she received a full music scholarship to college for her talents on clarinet, french horn and tenor sax. Currently, she’s taking up electric guitar, practicing kundalini yoga and reading afro-futurism and medieval fantasy novels in her spare time.
