The following candidates were elected for 2020-2023 ATC Board of Director positions.
Returning Directors
Colin Beasley
Colin has been on the Board for three years. Currently the Chair of the Board, he has served as the Chair of the Board’s Governance Committee and served on the Board’s Finance Committee. Prior to joining the Board, Colin was a member of the President’s Advisory Circle (now the President’s Leadership Circle). A former executive of Verizon, Colin currently lives in New London, NH. He is a major donor to the ATC. He received his MBA from Babson College with a concentration in Finance and his Bachelor’s in Economics and Philosophy from Boston College.
Robert Hutchinson
Rob Hutchinson of Sandy Springs, Georgia joined ATC’s Board of Directors in June, 2014. He has served as chair of the Investment Committee as well as head of the Facilities Task Force; currently he is Vice Chair of the Board and serves on the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee, and Advancement Committee. An ATC Life Member, he completed a thru-hike of the A.T. in 2019. Hutchinson is a vice president at Goldman, Sachs & Company in Atlanta, where he has worked for 33 years. He is a graduate of Davidson College and the Yale School of Management.
Daniel Howe
Daniel Howe is a 1979 A.T. thru-hiker and thru-biker of the Blue Ridge Parkway. He retired 2014 as Assistant City Manager of the City of Raleigh, North Carolina after a 29-year career in that growing city. Dan is currently an adjunct professor of landscape architecture at North Carolina State University, where he earned his master’s in that field. He holds an undergraduate degree from the School of Architecture, Urban and Environmental Planning program at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and continues to operate a planning and writing consulting practice in Raleigh.
Colleen Peterson
Colleen Peterson, of Frostburg, Maryland, a former vice president of university advancement at Frostburg State, has been section-hiking the Appalachian Trail since 2012 (Lyme disease having cut short a thru-hike that year). A graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland, she has served on numerous local and state nonprofit boards and commissions, in 2010 was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women and continues to provide consulting to nonprofit and business clients in western Maryland. Colleen joined the Board in 2015 and has served on several committees, including the Advancement Committee of which she is the Chair.
Nathan Rogers
Nathan Rogers of Windham, New Hampshire joined ATC’s Board of Directors in October, 2019. ‘One-Pole’ completed a Southbound thru-hike in 1998. Nathan serves as the SVP and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAIC), a premier technology integrator solving the nation’s most complex IT modernization and readiness challenges. Nathan serves as a current board of director on the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He is a member of the Governance Committee where he is focused on helping implement a risk management framework and he serves on the Finance Committee where he is focused on the future IT and digital strategy.
New Directors
Eboni Preston
Eboni is a management professional with a background in non-profit administration, program operations, and workforce development. She is currently the Director of Operations with the Greening Youth Foundation, an Atlanta based nonprofit that engages diverse youth and young adults by connecting them to the outdoors and careers in conservation. As she serves as a Board Member for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, she is also Georgia Conservancy’s Generation Green Board Chair, a board member of the Next 100 Coalition, a member of the Southeast Regional Council for National Parks Conservation Association, and the Labor and Industry Chair for Georgia NAACP. Eboni is also committed to serving as a mentor and facilitator with the Children’s Forest of Georgia’s Next Generation Forest Service Ambassadors and Forest for Every Classroom programs. Eboni holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration from Kennesaw State University, a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University.
Rajinder (Raj) Singh
Raj is Chief Risk Officer of Global Mortgage Insurance division of Genworth Financial since 2014. He serves as director on the boards of Genworth Australia, India Mortgage Guarantee Corporation (joint venture with National Housing Bank, International Finance Corporation, and Asia Development Bank), and Genworth Seguros de Credito a la Vivienda, Mexico. He is also a key member of various executive committees.
Raj has held senior executive roles in the global financial services sector, including Chief Risk Officer for Citigroup’s U.S. Mortgage; Chief Credit Risk Officer for Ally Financial (fka GMAC Financial Services); Chief Risk Officer for GE Money Americas (division of GE Capital), and Head of Retail Risk at U.S. Bancorp, Minneapolis. He has served on the boards of Genworth Canada and Banco de America Central (BAC) International Bank.
Raj holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School, an MS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University, and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He is a graduate of Wharton’s Advanced Risk Management Program, a certified six-sigma Black Belt and enjoys hiking, golf, travel, and reading non-fiction.
