Whether you’re a first-time visitor to the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) or gearing up for your section/thru-hike, this event offers invaluable information and resources to help you navigate the A.T. with confidence and prepare for your adventure!
The Rocksylvania Appalachian Trail Kickoff will provide a thorough introduction to the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, featuring maps, water source details, blaze markers, and much more. Activities include A.T. hiker registration, distribution of A.T. hangtags, Leave No Trace training, and a pack shakedown station where experienced hikers can help you refine your gear.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with trail organizations such as Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club and other local hiking clubs, enjoy a bake sale and soda station, and participate in specialized panels tailored to both section hikers and thru-hikers. Additional resources will cover important topics like Hike for Mental Health and day hike planning strategies to maximize your hiking experience.
