Update: As of 8:00 a.m. today, the section of the A.T. and Skyline Drive that were closed due to the fire are open again. The burn ban is also lifted.

Due to the Bear Den Mountain Fire, Shenandoah National Park has closed the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) from Rockfish Gap to Turk Gap (NOBO mile 864.6 to 876.7). Skyline Drive is also closed from Rockfish Gap to Loft Mountain.

Hikers must avoid this area during the closure and should follow all instructions from fire crews and posted signs. We will update this notice with more information as we receive it.

There is also a parkwide burn ban in effect until 8:00 pm tonight.
