The New York Bridge Authority announced that construction will begin this year to replace the decking on the Bear Mountain Bridge and enhance safety and accessibility on the bridge (NOBO mile 1,409.8). At least one sidewalk accessible to pedestrians during the entirety of the project, so there should not be impacts to Appalachian Trail (A.T.) hiker itineraries.
