Work will begin in the coming days to replace the Katahdin Stream Bridge, located just over a mile north on the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) from Katahdin Stream Campground in Baxter State Park (NOBO mile 2,193.8). The A.T. (called the Hunt Trail in the park) will be closed at the junction with the Owl Trail and hikers will be routed onto a temporary bypass trail around the project site. The replacement is expected to take three or four weeks.

Hikers should follow all instructions from park staff and posted signs. For more information about hiking Katahdin and park reservations, visit Baxter State Park's website.
