Poll: Help Choose the 2024 Hangtag Color
Every year, the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) hangtag can be seen dangling from the backpacks of thousands of hikers as they attempt to tackle the entire Trail, whether in one continuous thru-hike or over a series of section hikes. The color of the hangtag changes each year, and for 2024, the color will be…up to you.
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy team narrowed its favorite colors down to its top four. Through September 20, you can cast your vote for the hangtag color you think the A.T. class of 2024 should strap to their packs. Check out our recent video to learn more about hiker hangtags and to see past years’ colors.
And, as a thank you for voting, we are also selecting ten random voters to receive a limited edition ATC t-shirt.
Here’s how it works:
- Select your hangtag color of choice and enter your contact information below to sign up for ATC emails (you can still vote if you’ve already subscribed).
- You can vote once per day, so come back daily to make sure your favorite color wins!
- The poll will close at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, September 20.
- We will announce the winning color on Thursday, September 21.
- We will randomly select 10 winners of the ATC t-shirt and notify them via email by Friday, September 29. We will use your provided email address to contact you if you win, so double-check to make sure it is correct before submitting your vote!

T-shirt features a white blaze design on the front with text that reads, “Protecting the A.T. experience since 1925.” The back of the shirt features the ATC’s logo.
