Membership Meeting 2024

The 2024 ATC Membership Meeting was held virtually on Wednesday, August 21 at 7 p.m. EDT.

Our Membership Meeting is an opportunity for us to come together as a community to discuss the future of the ATC and recommit to educating and empowering current and future caretakers of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.).

The meeting included brief presentations from ATC leadership. During the meeting, we also announced the results of the 2024 Board of Directors election.

New Officers and Members of the ATC Board of Directors


New Directors

Ashley CampbellAshley Campbell 

Ashley Campbell is the CEO of Legal Aid of North Carolina, which has a mission to provide legal services to more than two million low-income North Carolinians. Ashley has extensive experience in real estate law and nonprofit organization management. Campbell has held various leadership roles during her 22-year legal career and has been named a Best Lawyer in America numerous times.

An avid hiker, she has completed 500 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Springer Mountain to Damascus and a portion of the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Ashley lives in Raleigh with her husband, Russell, children Henry and Caroline and beloved goldendoodle Butter.


Rich DaileaderRich Daileader

Rich is a retired banker who most recently was Managing Director at Ally Corporate Finance. His professional career was split evenly between institutions in New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina.

He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from St. John’s University and an M.B.A. from Fordham University School of Business.

When down-sized during the 2009 financial crisis, Rich successfully thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. He found the experience so impactful that upon early retirement in 2019, Rich section hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, completing it in 2022.

Rich is a former Board Member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (2011- 2015) and the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Rich is a founding Board member and the current Board President of Warrior Expeditions.

Rich currently lives in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina with his wife, Laura Lawton Fraser and their son, Samuel. Rich’s son, Chris lives in Washington, D.C. and his daughter, Shannon is married and lives in Buena Vista, CO.


Lisa ManleyLisa Manley

Lisa Manley is a seasoned sustainability leader with 25 years experience guiding prominent organizations such as Mars and The Coca-Cola Company to develop and amplify strategies that foster trust and shape measurable social and environmental impacts. Her expertise spans sustainability strategy development, communications, climate action, water stewardship, human rights, and social justice.

The first woman in her family to attend college, Lisa is a proud dual-degree graduate of The University of Virginia. She resides in Charlottesville, Virginia, with her wife, where they enjoy hiking, golf and tennis. Having explored 55 countries, Lisa maintains a passion for discovering new cultures and landscapes worldwide.


Current Directors who were Re-elected

Grant DaviesGrant Davies

Grant Davies is an avid hiker and cross-country skier in his native Quebec. He joined ATC’s Board of Directors in August 2018. He serves as the Chair of the Board’s Audit Committee, and also serves on the Conservation Committee and DEI Committee. He is a risk and crisis-management consultant with Accenture, serves on the board of strategic advisors for the Yale School of Nursing, hikes the A.T. in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, and is a graduate of Concordia and McGill universities.


Jim LaTorreJim LaTorre

Jim is a Georgetown University graduate and a retired partner of the professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he spent his entire 39-year career. He joined ATC’s Board of Directors in August 2018. Over the course of his tenure, Jim has served as the Board Chair, Board Secretary, Board Treasurer, Chair of the Governance Committee, Chair of the Finance Committee, and a member of the Executive, Audit, Advancement, and DEI committees. He completed his section hike of the A.T. in 2023. Hiking the A.T. led to joining the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, where Jim serves as a trail maintainer, campsite maintainer, boundary monitor, certified sawyer, and member of Trail Patrol.


Greg WinchesterGreg Winchester

Greg previously served on the ATC’s Board of Directors from June 2013 until November 2019 and rejoined the Board in May 2023. An ATC life member, Greg has been an active A.T. section hiker since high school as a Boy Scout and then as a member of the University of North Carolina Outing Club.

He has completed the 14-state challenge. He is an active global section hiker and is exploring various sections of the International Appalachian Trail. Greg has a distinguished career in commercial real estate with a focus on real estate finance, investment, and financial services. He is involved with the establishment of Auburn University’s Real Estate Development Institute and serves on the Board of Directors of the Auburn University Foundation.


Nicole WootenNicole Wooten

Nicole is the Appalachian Land Protection Manager at The Nature Conservancy. She joined ATC’s Board of Directors in August 2021. She has served on the ATC Stewardship Council and A.T. Landscape Protection Steering Committee, and is a member of the New National Trails Committee for the Partnership for the National Trails System.

Nicole holds a Masters of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment and Bachelors degrees in Environmental Studies and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She enjoys day hikes and trail runs along the Appalachian Trail.
