Michael Cather
Associate Vice President of Development
Michael Cather brings three decades of professional fundraising experience to the ATC and has served in leadership roles for the last 15 years. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in designing, building, and growing successful philanthropic programs and fostering a collaborative team environment within several well-known regional and national institutions, including the Wounded Warrior Project and USA Lacrosse.
Most recently, Mike served as the Vice President of Development for Project Healing Waters, where he created and implemented a national fundraising model that integrated technology, multi-channel revenue programs, and local volunteer fundraising efforts. Prior to that, he held leadership and major gift positions at Towson University, MedStar Health, and the US Naval Academy Foundation.
In addition to his professional nonprofit career, Mike has volunteered in numerous capacities, including as a firefighter/EMT, high school mountain bike coach, and a board member for several organizations in his community. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Towson University and a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Mike is a Maryland native and grew up along the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay, where he developed a deep appreciation for outdoor recreation, especially hiking, biking, and fishing. Now he enjoys experiencing these activities with his wife and two sons.
