Makenzi Reed
Next Generation Advisory Council Member

Makenzi Reed is currently a senior environmental science major at Elizabethtown College. Growing up in Pennsylvania, she often hiked the A.T. at Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Michaux State Forest. Her passion for the A.T. was amplified at the ATC’s 2024 Emerging Leaders Summit, where she was immersed into the A.T. community. Makenzi has previously worked as a Seasonal Land Steward for the Lancaster Conservancy, where she managed invasive species and built recreational hiking trails. Stewardship of trails and the conservation of vital ecosystems are a large passion of hers, along with educating others about the natural world around them. She serves as a Youth Council Member for Reserva:Youth Land Trust, a nonprofit centered on empowering youth to maintain a biodiverse world, where she helps youth-led conservation projects around the world. She is also the President of her college’s SEEDS Ecology Club, part of the Ecological Society of America.
