Jasmine Gormley

Next Generation Advisory Council Member

Jasmine Gormley (she/her) is from New Hampshire, and she is a senior in the Environmental Studies major at Yale University. She is specializing in Biodiversity and Conservation, and is passionate about finding just and equitable conservation solutions in the face of the climate crisis. She hiked ~1,500 miles of the Appalachian Trail during her gap year, and was fascinated to see how the trail as a whole meshes with her experience of the AT while growing up in New Hampshire.

Jasmine has worked on conservation projects throughout the Southwest, and has conducted plant community ecology fieldwork in the Intermountain West and the Ecuadorian Amazon. The common thread between all of this work, aside from plant conservation, is her fascination with the varying relationships communities have with the ecosystems around them. Even though she spent lots of time outside as a child, she never saw herself as much of a backpacker until college. She is excited about working to promote accessibility in the outdoors for those from underrepresented backgrounds, and about working with the ATC through the NextGen Council!
