There are many ways to give! You can make a one-time or recurring donation, become a member, make a gift through your donor-advised fund, donate stock or mutual funds, make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA, include ATC in your estate plans, or explore workplace giving options. Yes. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 52-6046689), and your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a tax receipt for your records.

Absolutely. Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to honor someone’s connection to the Appalachian Trail. You can choose to notify a recipient of your gift with a mailed or emailed card, and larger tribute gifts may be eligible for a commemorative brick in our Tribute Garden.

You can recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund by using our legal name and EIN, and we encourage you to notify us at philanthropy@appalachiantrail.org so we can properly acknowledge your gift and include it in time-sensitive initiatives like our matching campaigns.

Gifts of stock are a tax-efficient way to support the Trail. Please visit our Stock Giving page for transfer instructions, and notify us of your intent so we can ensure proper tracking and acknowledgment.

Yes! If you are age 70½ or older, a QCD allows you to make a direct transfer from your IRA to ATC without increasing your taxable income. Learn more on our IRA Giving page or contact philanthropy@appalachiantrail.org for assistance.

Membership starts at just $50 and includes a subscription to A.T. Journeys and exclusive member benefits. You can join or renew online, by mail, or by phone.

A.T. Trailblazers are donors who contribute $1,000 or more annually. A.T. Trailblazer members receive special communications, invitations, and stewardship updates and play a critical role in sustaining the Trail’s future.

Yes! Many employers will match your charitable gift. Use our matching gift tool or check with your HR department to double your impact.

You can make a legacy gift by naming the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in your will, trust, or as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy. Let ATC know of your intentions by filling out our Legacy Commitment form online.

Yes. All donors receive a thank-you and tax acknowledgment by email or mail, depending on your preferences. Members and major donors also receive personalized stewardship and updates throughout the year.
