The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has begun renovations on the bridge that carries the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) and PA Route 873 over the Lehigh River in eastern PA (NOBO mile 1,261.0). Vehicle traffic will be restricted and at times the road will be entirely closed to vehicles. The walkway carrying the A.T. over the river will remain open, but it will be narrower than normal at times. Hikers should also be prepared for dust and noise from the construction.

PennDOT anticipates that the project will be complete by early March of 2026.
