Hike Description

  1. From the trailhead at the parking lot on Forest Service Road 10 (Danby-Landgrove Road), hike north on the A.T.
  2. Reach the southern end of Little Rock Pond at mile 2. The Trail skirts the eastern shore of the pond for the next 0.4 mile.
  3. Retrace your steps back to the parking lot.

You may decide to hike a bit further to either take the Little Rock Pond Loop Trail around the other shore of the pond back to the A.T. or create a larger loop via the Green Mountain Trail (7.5 miles total).

  1. At the northern end of the pond, the Green Mountain Trail turns left off of the A.T. Even if you don’t care to follow this trail back all the way back to the parking lot for the 7.5 mile loop, you may want to follow it a short distance to join up with the Little Rock Pond Loop Trail, which can be followed back to the southern end of the pond.
  2. If you decide to follow the Green Mountain Trail , climb 1 mile up the ridge to the summit of Green Mountain.
  3. Continue following the Trail for another 4.1 miles as it traverses and descends the ridge to FS 10, about 0.1 mile west of the parking lot at the A.T. trailhead.

Take care to stick to the footpath and practice Leave No Trace at this fragile, highly-visited place!
