Update: Due to the Centennial Wildfire, the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is closed from Leadmine State Forest to the junction of the Centennial Trail and the Mahoosuc Trail (NOBO approx. mile 1,897.0 to mile 1,899.6). See the map below.
Hikers should avoid the area and find an alternative route.

Firefighters are currently battling the 25-acre Centennial Fire west of Leadmine State Forest, near where the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) crosses U.S. Route 2 (NOBO mile 1,896.0) outside of Shelburne, NH.
The fire has burned across the A.T. in the area. The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning of high fire danger for the region.
Hikers should avoid the area and use extreme caution with fires and camp stoves.
