Georgia – Seasonal Road Closures – Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest

Road Closure

Seasonal road closures are in effect on the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests due to winter weather conditions on select forest roads susceptible to damage. These seasonal closures help to protect public health and safety, infrastructure, and natural resources. Seasonal closures generally occur between December and March, when snow, ice, and frigid temperatures make winter travel treacherous.

These seasonal road closures may affect access to the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) in Georgia. A.T. hikers should prepare accordingly for accessing the Trail and for resupply and emergency purposes. For more information, visit the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest website.
