UPDATE 9/14: After coordinating with the Appalachian Mountain Club: Connecticut Chapter Management Committee, it has been determined that the Macedonia Bridge can be used with caution. Hikers should use their best judgment and consider current weather conditions and water levels before crossing. Alternatively, hikers can detour around the bridge by following CT 341 east to Skiff Mountain Rd, then following Skiff Mountain Rd. north until it intersects the Appalachian Trail (see detour map below):

ORIGINAL POST 9/13: The Macedonia Bridge on the Appalachian Trail near Kent, CT (approximately NOBO mile 1,470.3), has been damaged by recent flooding. Headed northbound, the first road crossing before the bridge is CT 341. An alternative route is currently being planned for use until repairs can be made. Hikers should arrange for transportation around the closure at this time. Please continue to check back as more information becomes available.
