Kathy Baugh

Northeast Regional Director

As the Northeast Regional Director, Kathy oversees the management and protection of the Appalachian Trail from Connecticut to Maine.
Kathy came to the ATC with over 30 years of non-profit experience primarily focused on program development, partnership development, staff development, grant writing and grant management.

Prior to coming to ATC, Kathy worked with the Student Conservation Association for 16 years. Although she worked with all program types to a greater or lesser extent, Kathy specialized in overseeing SCA’s AmeriCorps programs. Kathy started off as the Director of SCA’s NY AmeriCorps program, then moved into the NE Regional Manager and ultimately became the National Director of SCA’s AmeriCorps programs and National Initiatives. Kathy is most proud of the work she did to help start a variety of new and innovative programs for SCA, including the NYS Excelsior Corps, the NYS Parks Corps, the Boston Historic Preservation Corps and the Alaska Corps.

Kathy is a community builder who believes that when people see their purpose and place within a community, they naturally thrive and develop a sense of agency that they then bring forth in all other endeavors. In true form, Kathy’s civic engagement extends beyond the workday as she serves on the MA Rec Trails Advisory Board, volunteers for MA Envirothon and is the co-founder and editor of her town’s local paper, the Becket Beat.

Kathy earned a bachelor’s degree in Community and Family services from the University of Delaware in 1987. After raising her two children, Sam and Melanie in New Paltz, NY; Kathy moved to the woods of Becket, MA with her wife Yvonne, her dog Snoopy, and two cats – Bob and Shirley. In her spare time, Kathy enjoys hiking, swimming, kayaking, x-country skiing and gardening.
