Drew Ball

Southern Regional Director

As the Southern Regional Director, Drew oversees the management and protection of the Appalachian Trail through Georgia, North Carolina and Tennesse.

Prior to joining ATC, Drew gained years of experience managing a statewide non-profit organization, working as an environmental advocate, a grassroots organizer, and fundraiser. He has served as the State Director of Environment North Carolina, the Sierra Club’s Senior Campaign Representative for National Monuments, and as the North Carolina Sierra Club’s Director of Government Relations. He has raised funds to run and win campaigns to preserve landscapes, promote clean energy, and protect clean water across North Carolina. During his time working within non-profits and on electoral campaigns, he has worked closely with volunteers by building strong relationships, working with them to develop programs, and providing support so that they could go on to become leaders within these organizations.

Drew earned his M.P.A. from American University and his B.A. in political science from NC State University. Drew lives in Asheville with his dogs Maybelle and Buck (who followed an AT thru-hiker for 30 miles before finding Drew), as well as a bunch of ducks, chickens, and goats. Drew enjoys trail running, cycling, creating music, and playing live with several bands.
