This important maintenance is what keeps the Appalachian Trail alive and it is done primarily by volunteers. Join the Wilmington Trail Club for their A.T. Work Day on Saturday, May 18.
We will repaint trail blazes, do shelter maintenance, trim brush, cover at least several miles of the AT.
Participants should wear sturdy boots and long pants. Please bring plenty of water, lunch, and snacks in a small knapsack. It’s a good idea to also bring work gloves, if you have them, as well as, rain gear, bug repellent, and sun protection. Wear or pack layers, since weather can change quickly. Paint and brushes and some hand tools are available from the club inventory.
Delaware Residents: Meet at Brandywine Town Center Park and Ride for 7:30 a.m. departure, 2 1⁄4 hr and 120 miles to trailhead at Fox Gap,PA.
Contact leader if you plan to drive to the trailhead for a 9:45 a.m. start.
A post event snack stop at the Village Bakery in Delaware Water Gap for sandwiches, ice cream, baked goods will cap the day. Return to Delaware in the early evening.
Drivers will be compensated by the club, so, no cost to attendees. If weather forces cancellation, rain date will be Sunday May 19.
