Join the Green Mountain Clubs Worcester Section for their Fall Work Party on Saturday, October 13 - Sunday, October 14. The group will be performing essential trail maintenance task before the snow falls. This important maintenance is what keeps the Appalachian Trail alive and can include things such as, cleaning out water drainages that help prevent erosion of the Trail to pruning vegetation overgrowing on to the Trail.
The group will be staying at the Stratton Pond Shelter on Friday as well as Saturday night. The hike from the trailhead is approximately 2-3 miles. Please contact the trip leader to discuss arrival logistics. There will also be an opportunities to carpool 2.5 hours from Worcester/Paxton Massachusetts.
Be sure to wear long pants, sturdy boots and work gloves as well as proper camping equipment, such as tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and many layers of clothing including a rain jacket. Also bring bug spray, sunscreen, water/water filtration system and enough food for the duration of your stay (breakfast, lunch,dinner, snacks).
