A.T. Club leaders and emerging leaders are extended a special training invitation to attend the A.T. Volunteer Leadership Meeting. The primary outcomes from this weekend training session are to build a common understanding of the distinct partners, their roles and responsibilities within the A.T. Cooperative Management System. Sessions are designed to build community and capacity through training, tools, resources and practice for volunteer leadership excellence.
Between the 31 trail maintaining clubs and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, to the National Parks Service and the US Forest Service, a lot goes into managing a “simple footpath” such as the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and this workshop helps makes sense of the nuances of the broad network of partners working together for the benefit of the A.T. The Volunteer Leadership Meeting is a great opportunity for all partners to get together and discuss the Trail’s future.
The meeting will take place at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Advanced registration is necessary by contacting [email protected]. On site registration begins at 1 p.m and the meeting opens with speakers at 4 p.m on Friday, August 10. The meeting will adjourn at 12:30 p.m on Sunday, August 12th and is followed by the A.T. Membership Meeting at 1:30. .
