Maintaining the Appalachian Trail by clearing fallen trees, cutting back overgrown vegetation from the sides of the Trail, and repainting trail markers, also known as blazes, keeps the Appalachian Trail alive. This is all done by volunteers!
Join the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club (TATC) on Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3 for a weekend of hiking the TATC section of the Appalachian Trail scouting and documenting maintenance needs in preparation for the Spring Maintenance Weekend.
Please be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water and food for the weekend, sunscreen, bug spray, as well as a rain jacket and work gloves if you have them. Participants are to also supply their own camping gear including but not limited to; backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent/hammock.
