Celebrate National Public Lands Day and Family Hiking Day by joining the Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s Resource Management Coordinator Matt Drury and a US Forest Service Botanist Sue Fruchey for a 5 mile naturalist hike on the Appalachian Trail from Sam’s Gap to Street Gap. National Public Lands Day celebrates enjoyment and volunteer conservation of recreational natural resources such as the A.T. Learn about the unique ecosystems of the Appalachian Mountains and develop a new appreciation for the life found on the Trail. Round trip, the hike has an overall elevation gain of 1,200 feet and sections of steep incline.
Participants will meet at the Appalachian Ranger District at 8:45 a.m. and depart for Sam’s Gap at 9 a.m. sharp. The hike will take approximately 3-4 hours.
The hike is limited to 18 people and is currently not at capacity. Participants should bring sturdy boots, food, water, sun protection, and bug repellent. Please fill out this form to register your participation.
