Pull Some Garlic Mustard

When invasive species are introduced to a new landscape they can easily take over and destroy otherwise natural habitats.

Join the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club (BMECC) on Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m-3 p.m as they remove Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) from the Appalachian Trail corridor. Garlic Mustard has invaded so many parts of the trail from Georgia to Maine, that there is a Garlic Mustard Challenge where clubs compete to remove the most of this noxious plant. Luckily, due to the plants shallow roots the work is fairly fast. All necessary tools and training will be provided. Wear sturdy boots, long pants and work gloves. Bring your own lunch, personal snacks and water.

Meet at the Route 645 A.T trail crossing parking lot.
