For those who are experiencing distress in the wake of the recent attacks on the Appalachian Trail in southwest Virginia, we are providing some resources that we hope will help.

GEORGIA

A FREE 24/7 helpline providing mental health crisis assistance and access to mental health resources throughout the state of Georgia 1-800-715-4225 or mygcal.com.

In Crisis? Send ‘GA’ To 741-741 To Text With A Crisis Counselor. Anyone in Georgia experiencing an emotional crisis can text GA to 741741 to communicate with a trained Crisis Counselor.  The service is FREE, confidential and available 24/7.

NORTH CAROLINA

A 24/7 helpline providing mental health crisis assistance and access to mental health resources is available at 800-849-6127 or for TTY, contact NC Relay at 711. Mobile Crisis teams with an average response time of 2 hours, are also available through this number. FREE

In Clay, Macon, Swain, Graham, and Haywood Counties: For 24/7 information on Mobile Crisis Teams with an average response time of 2 hours, contact Appalachian Community Services at 888-315-2880. FREE

In Madison, Yancey, and Mitchell Counties: For 24/7 information on Mobile Crisis Teams with an average response time of 2 hours, contact RHA Behavioral Health Services at 888-573-1006. FREE

In Avery County: For 24/7 information on Mobile Crisis Teams with an average response time of 2 hours, contact Daymark Recovery Services at 877-492-2785. FREE
